Basic Expedition Leader Award
'The NVQ Level 2 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership'
HUNTER Outdoor Education Services (as it was) in 1990 was the first organisation in Essex to run the Award - then called the Basic Expedition Training Award.
We have had a number of enquiries in quick succession asking about this foundation qualification to lead in the outdoors in lowland and remote - but not wild - country. Cost will be approximately £400. This excludes food and transport but does include some accommodation.
We can run this Course for you in 2011. Minimum number of participants: 4
It will comprises four weekends and four evenings throughout the Summer with a mixture of Centre based, static camp, and backpacking accommodation. The venues include east Essex, the Suffolk coast, and Ashdown Forest in Sussex.
Themes and topics covered and assessed on the Course:
Planning & Preparation Equipment & Clothing Fitness Mapwork & Navigation Instructional & Organisational Methods Leadership & Party Management Weather Access & Conservation.
It is expected that participants will already have a First Aid qualification either an HSE 'First Aid at Work' or an Emergency Aid Certificate. Should this not be the case HUNTER can run a special course at extra cost.
An Introductory Evening will be held for all interested participants. Application Forms will be available at that meeting.
For details on the Introductory Meeting forward your name / address / tel. number to the email address below. Please tell us a bit about yourselves and why you want to undertake this course / what organisation (if any) you represent.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Barry Howard
NB JUNE 2010 It is possible that this NVQ will be uprated to NVQ Level 3 before the end of the year
